Greg Stebbing - Chairman

Independent

Greg recently retired following 38 years working in the Timber Manufacturing and Forestry sector, primarily with Fletcher Challenge and then Carter Holt Harvey. His prime roles were in the Management Accounting and Commercial Management area with the last 6 years as Supply Chain Manager for the CHH Woodproducts division. This included heavy involvement in evaluation of investment/divestment decisions and Business Process improvement.

Born and bred in Taupo with strong family ties to the town with his Grandfather having owned the general store at Oruanui in 1905.

Richard Wyeth - Deputy Chair

Independant

Richard is the Chief Executive Officer of Miraka Limited, a majority Maori owned Dairy Processing company at Mokai, Taupo. Richard moved with his wife Sarah and two children to Taupo in early 2010 to establish Miraka. Richard is focused on building commercial success in the region.

Tom is Chairman of Beker Findlay Allan Limited. He specialises in Business growth and development. In particular strategy implementation and measurement, business restructuring, tax effective planning and is an advisor to many corporate boards.

The Economic Development and growth of the Taupo region is a major focus for Tom. Effective communication between all the local government agencies and other community agencies is the way to make Taupo grow and maintain its competitiveness in business, and enhance the support from the Taupo community.

Andrea (Andy) Blair

Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences (GNS)

Andy is the Geothermal Business Development Manager for GNS Science.  Andy is focussed on the development of domestic and international business strategies, project co-ordination and the commercialisation of scientific products and services.  Originally trained in Forestry Science and involved in forest management planning and operations for 6 years, Andy has also had experience in the tourism sector as the GM of an iconic transport provider and CEO of a skydiving operation. Andy has coordinated geothermal geoscience projects across a number of countries worldwide.

Murray McCaw

Taupo District Council Appointee

Murray McCaw is an independent business consultant with over three decades’ experience in governance roles. His economic development background includes time as Chair of the Wellington Regional Strategy Forum and Grow Wellington, and he currently chairs the board of Luxury Lodges of New Zealand. He is a graduate of Harvard Business School and currently provides advice both in New Zealand and overseas in the areas of governance, corporate strategy and marketing.

Bruce Bartley

Independent

Bruce is a professional engineer, resident in Taupo since 1980.  He has wide ranging business interests, which include land development, aircraft electronic equipment manufacturing, and other high tech manufacturing.  Bruce and his wife Raewyn spent 1.5 years in Colorado, returning to Taupo in 2012.  Bruce brings an enthusiastic commercial focus to growing Taupo’s economy.

Penny Lyons

Taupo Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Penny moved to Taupo in 1995, and has been fully engrossed in both local business and the community since.  She is the General Manager of Mediaworks and is a Board Member of the Taupo Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  Penny is also a Trustee on 100% Lake Taupo Charitable Trust, which runs the very successful Zero Risk King of the Ring boxing event and other activities, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the local community.  Although Penny's background is in tourism and marketing, her role sees her deal with all different sectors in the Taupo district, and is therefore is well informed on most industry trends.

Dan is a Director of Strettons.  After being born and raised in Taupo, Dan disappeared for around 8 years to attend University, travel and work in Auckland, however in 2010 the allure of Taupo brought Dan back to work at Strettons.  Dan loves spending time in the outdoors and enjoys all that Taupo has to offer in the way of the mountain, the lake, mountain bike tracks, various sporting clubs and the tight knit community.  Dan thinks Taupo is a great place to live, work and play and is passionate about seeing the town grow so more people can experience what Taupo has to offer.

Kathy Guy

Destination Great Lake Taupo

Kathy has been involved in the Tourism & Hospitality Industry since the mid 70’s and is Group General Manager of both Chateau Tongairiro and Wairakei Resort.

Kathy is a Director of Mountain Air and has held two terms on the Board of Tourism New Zealand.

She also previously held Central North Island Chair for NZ Hotel Council and was previously Chair of Visit Ruapehu and Chair of the Government’s Central North island Major Regional Initiative which encompassed Ruapehu, Rangitikei and Wanganui regions.
